Supervised staff of 150-200 student security guards working in 15 residence halls housing approximately 5,000 students.
Position Description
- Served as liaison for police department and university housing.
- Supervision of large student staff, to include hiring, training, professional development, scheduling, disciplinary matters, and termination.
- Assisted officers in investigations of criminal matters in residence halls, to include providing student reports, video archival, and testifying in court proceedings.
- Conducted yearly 40-hour training session with entire staff. Required coordination of securing location, budgeting, arranging guest speakers, presentations, hands-on activities, practical exercises, and administration of 200 question exam.
- Performed data collection of events in residence halls and performed analysis of data for crime prevention purposes.
- Responded to high-stress emergency situations in residence halls, to include student death.
- Designed extensive Microsoft Access database for data entry of residence hall reports. Database included search capabilities for better location of particular reports, data analysis, and archival.
- Significantly expanded training program from previous template.
- Thoroughly upgraded and standardized desk procedures and available information, to include “Red Books” (assembly of needed information, “cheat sheets,” call lists, rosters, etc),
- Provided professional development to student employees to serve throughout their education and in early careers.
- Established reputation as approachable supervisor who held staff to high standards of excellence.
- Certification as instructor of self-defense Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) systems. Joined team of instructors to hold classes up to 25 women regularly. Jointly oversaw registration, advertising, instructor scheduling, and administration of class (paperwork, etc).
